Argentine Buljubasich has brain tumour removed

Universidad Catolica's Argentine goalkeeper Jose Maria Buljubasich had a surgery to remove a small tumour from his brain on Monday.

"The operation was a success, it was completed without any complications," surgeon Gonzalo Torrealba said after the four-hour operation.

Specialists said the tumour is benign and Buljubasich will be able to lead a normal life in the future.

The 35-year-old former Rosario Central, Tenerife and River Plate player kept 14 successive clean sheets in the Chilean championship last year, completing 1,352 minutes of play without conceding a goal.

He was 38 minutes short of the 1,390 minutes achieved by former Belgian international Dany Verlinden, the most verifiable such record.
