Dispatch of Turkish troops to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is expected by the end of October, Turkish diplomatic sources said on Monday.
Turkey is planning to send troops, mostly naval forces, to the peacekeeping force in south Lebanon by the end of next month, the sources were quoted by the semi-official Anatolia news agency as saying.
The sources said that the troops' location of duty was not clear yet and the troops were expected to include a limited number of land forces as well.
Meanwhile, a technical commission from Turkey is expected to head for New York in order to discuss details of the mission.
The commission comprises military officers and Foreign Ministry officials.
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said on Sunday that technical activities were going on regarding the dispatch of Turkish troops to Lebanon.
