font size

Estonia's Margus Hunt became the biggest news of the second day at the IAAF World Junior Championships when he broke the men's discus throw world mark for the third time and took the title.

The 19-year-old threw 67.32 meters in the sixth and last attempt to improve on his previous best of 66.68 set two attempts ago.

Hunt had renewed a former world junior mark in 66.35 meters in Tuesday's qualification, beating the previous best of 65.88m set by Egypt's Omar El-Ghazaly in 2003.

The 2.03m teenager, also winner of this event in European junior championships, brought his country the first gold at the tournament.

Iran's Mohammad Samimi finished second with a national record of 63.00m while Martin Wierig of Germany was third in 62.17, which is his personal best.
