USAID contributes 3.5 bln USD to Afghanistan over past 4 years
Over the past four years, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has contributed more than 3.5 billion U.S. dollars to the war-weary Afghanistan, according to a statement released in Kabul on Wednesday.
Most fund has gone to infrastructure as 1093.02 million U.S. dollars is poured, said a statement issued by coalition forces.
The following are 475.89 million to economic growth, 316.06 million to democracy and governance, 242 million to health, and 208.92 million to education.
Alternative Livelihoods Program has been donated with 175 million, agriculture with 164.59 million, Provincial Reconstruction Teams with 144.45 million, and reintegrating former combatants with 20.42 million.
The Washington-based USAID is a U.S. federal government agency to extend assistance to countries recovering from disaster, trying to escape poverty, etc.
