U.S. Navy seizes 6 tons of cocaine on Peruvian boat
font size

The U.S. Navy seized six tons of cocaine in a Peruvian fishing boat on the high seas last Friday and arrested seven crew members on board, local media reported on Monday.

This was the second Peruvian fishing boat with large amounts of drugs on board that has been seized on the high seas this year.

The crew, all of them Peruvians, were arrested on suspicion of conducting drug transactions on the high seas.

Peru, located in South America's notorious drug-producing "Silver Triangle," produces nearly 300 tons of cocaine every year.
