Sweden on Sunday condemned Israeli raids on the Lebanese village of Qana that killed at least 51 civilians and appealed for an immediate cessation in hostilities.
"There is strong reason to condemn the attack against the housing complex in Qana leading to the deaths of civilians including children," Swedish Foreign Minister Jan Eliasson said in a statement.
Eliasson appealed for an end to the fighting and for the adoption of a UN resolution.
"It is time to end this madness. The UN Security Council must accept its responsibility and immediately adopt a resolution to bring an end to hostilities," he said.
