Spanish league team Racing Santander, managed by Miguel Angel Portugal, is trying to sign Mexican soccer players Jared Borgetti and Omar Bravo, Spanish sports daily As de Espana reported on Monday.
Racing signed a deal with a group of Mexican businessmen in 2005 that makes transfers easier, the newspaper said.
Borgetti currently plays for English premier league team Bolton, while Bravo plays for Mexico's Chivas Rayadas. Bravo scored two goals against Iran during Mexico's World Cup campaign in Germany last month.
Jorge Vergara, president of Chivas, said that the Guadalajara team was willing to let Bravo transfer to Europe, without giving details of the negotiation. He added however, that there is a real chance Bravo will emigrate.
"We are already speaking with a team, and I believe there is a strong chance the player will leave (Mexico). Chivas will give him all the support he needs to fulfill his dream," Vergara said.
Bravo will travel with Chivas to Buenos Aires to meet Argentine team Velez Sarsfield in the quarterfinals of the Libertadores Cup.
