Canada condemns Mumbai train bombings

Canadian Foreign Minister Peter MacKay on Tuesday issued a statement condemning the train bombings in Mumbai, India and offering condolences for the victims.

"The terrorist bombings in Mumbai, India, are a deplorable act of violence against innocent civilians. On behalf of all Canadians, I extend our condolences and sympathies," the statement said.

"This is another awful reminder of the determination of terrorists who use murder as an instrument to advance their political ends," the statement said, while pledging that "Canada stands with India in condemning these acts of terror."

The eight bomb explosives that happened earlier Tuesday in the train network in India's largest city has led to the death of at least 147, injuring over 430.
