Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann, who led the host country to a third-place in the World Cup finals, has decided not to extend his contract, which expired at the end of the tournament.

The German soccer federation (DFB) confirmed local reports that the former Germany striker would step down and that a news conference was planned for later on Wednesday.

A news conference will take place in Frankfurt at 0930 GMT, with media reports saying assistant coach Joachim Loew will be offered the job.
