Argentine supporters of football-mad Bangladesh Wednesday rejoiced the exit of the host nation Germany to Italy as they consider it as revenge for defeating Argentina in the quarter final what they say illegally.
Fans of Argentine in Bangladesh capital, who watched the Italy-Germany match in large screen in different places, rejoiced the defeat dancing in the streets in different places of Dhaka city, private television channel I showed Wednesday in its footage.
The footage showed the fans took to the streets immediately after Italy made the exit of Germany with an extra time 2-0 defeat after 12 years.
Shaun, a student of an engineering university said, "I am happy that Germany was shown to door out of the World Cup as they illegally defeated Argentina because of the referee."
Many Argentine fans in Bangladesh consider Germany, which also lifted the cup thrice, played with 12 men, including the referee.
Thousands of Bangladesh soccer fans supporting Brazil and Argentina are now reluctant to watch World Cup matches as both Brazil and Argentina were out of the championship.
Shaun said, "I did not watch the Italy-Germany match as I have lost all my interest in World Cup. I have seen the report of German defeat in newspapers only."
Italy, the three times winner of the World Cup reached final after 12 years as the country played in World Cup final. The country also played in the final in 1982.
Ahsanullah, a middle aged service holder when asked if he watched the first semifinal match between Italy and Germany, said, "Since Argentina and Brazil are now absent in the World Cup, I am not getting any interest to watch the match. I thought, it's better to have good sleep instead of watching the match."
Before Argentina and Brazil were sent packing in the quarter final, the World Cup was talk of the country, but now it has evaporated to a great extent.
