Kenyan beaten to death for ridiculing fans of Brazil
font size

A 21-year-old man was beaten to death in western Kenya for ridiculing Brazilian fans after the world champions were bundled out of the championships by France, Kenya News Agency reported Tuesday.

Austin Ochieng Okello succumbed to injuries as a result of thorough beating by his two friends whom he had earlier met on the streets at Karapul estate in Siaya district of western Kenya before engaging them on an argument over the defeat of the South Americans.

According to the report, as the argument got out of hand, Okello ridiculed the duo for supporting a "weak" team at the finals, sparking off a fierce fight between him and the duo. He was over powered by the two who beat and left him unconscious at the road side.

A villager took the young man to his home and later found him dead.

Local police officer Humphrey Wanzala confirmed the incident, saying that police had launched a man hunt for the soccer fan's assailants.
