Italy's 1982 World Cup winning hero Paolo Rossi said that hosts Germany are the favorites in their semifinal match against Italy late here on Tuesday.
"Germany will perhaps go into Tuesday's match as slight favorites because they're playing at home, but otherwise the two sides look even," Rossi said.
Rossi led Italy to defeat Germany in the 1982 World Cup final for their third and last World Cup win. He said: "I have fantastic memories. We were overwhelming favorites in Madrid, having made it to the Bernabeu after beating Argentina, Brazil and Poland. We felt unstoppable and showed it on the pitch by dominating excellent opposition."
Rossi, Gold Ball winner in 1982, said Brazil played badly this time because they were not playing as a team.
"Brazil were much stronger in 1982. They weren't much of a team this time around, more a collection of talented individuals who didn't gel."
