FIFA to look into Germany's Frings
font size

World soccer's governing body FIFA will investigate German midfielder Torsten Frings for his part in the fracas after Germany's win over Argentina in the quarter-finals.

Television footage appears to show the 29-year-old aiming a punch at Argentine striker Julio Cruz and FIFA has asked for an explanation by Monday morning.

The decision came after FIFA announced earlier on Sunday that it would take no action against the German players.

Germany play Italy in the World Cup's opening semifinal on Tuesday evening.

"Because of the urgency of the situation, a decision will be announced by the disciplinary committee on Monday afternoon," a FIFA spokesman said.
