Al-Zarqawi's elimination "a big achievement" in war on terror: Afghan government
font size

Afghanistan's foreign ministry spokesman Nawed Ahmad Moez on Thursday described the elimination of al-Qaida chief in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi as "a big achievement" in the U.S.-led war on al-Qaida network and lauded it.

"It is a big achievement in the war on terrorism. We believe this could help stabilize peace and security in Iraq," Moez told Xinhua.

Al-Zarqawi, military leader of al-Qaida network in the war-torn Iraq, who got fame for conducting militancy and resisting U.S. occupation of the oil-rich Iraq, was killed in a U.S. air strike Thursday.
