Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz has declared himself fit to face England in the Group B opener of the World Cup here on Wednesday.
Santa Cruz, who has undergone two knee operations in the last 18 months, has recovered from a tendinitis problem.
"I am fit and we are ready to do our best against England. We want to make our country proud of the team," said Cruz.
"I'm looking forward to this game. England are a strong team, but we believe in ourselves and we have worked hard and prepared well," he added.
Coach Anibal Ruiz was boosted by the positive news on Santa Cruz following the withdrawal of veteran forward Jose Cardozo due to injury.
"He is fit to play and he has no problems," said Anibal Ruiz.
Paraguay will play England on June 10th, and also face Trinidad and Tobago, and Sweden in the group stage.
