font size

A 19-year-old Israeli was lightly wounded after being stabbed by a Palestinian near a West Bank settlement on Wednesday, local daily Ha'aretz reported.

The incident occurred in Bat Ayin, a settlement south of Jerusalem, and Israeli forces have launched a search operation in the area for the attacker, who fled the scene, said the daily.

The wounded Israeli has been taken to hospital in Jerusalem for treatment.

According to a preliminary investigation, two Israelis were hiking near the scene of the attack, when Palestinians began hurling rocks at them.

The Palestinians then approached the two Israelis, stabbing one of them in the back and fled.
