China pledged in Beijing Tuesday to further promote China-Bangladesh ties.
Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing made the remark in his talks with the visiting Bangladeshi Minister of Foreign Affairs M. Morshed Khan.
Li told his Bangladeshi counterpart that China appreciates the valuable support offered by Bangladesh on issues such as Taiwan, human right and Tibet, expressing the willingness to make concerted efforts with Bangladesh to achieve "new progress" on the bilateral relations.
"The bilateral relations have become increasingly mature since the two countries forged diplomatic relations 31 years ago and has now entered into a new stage with the establishment of the bilateral all-round cooperative partnership during the mutual visits of the two state heads last year", Li said,
Khan said that Bangladesh attaches great importance to the relations with China and regards China as a reliable friend and partner.
Bangladesh and China have scored remarkable progress in the political, trade and science and technological cooperation and maintained close exchange and communication on the international and regional issues, Khan noted.
He also stressed that Bangladesh welcomes China to become an observer to the South Asian Association Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
The two sides also exchanged views on the other international and regional issues of common concern.
