    China's artificial sun finishes all engineering adjustment

    The photo taken on March 14, 2006 shows the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) (formerly HT-7U), which is also known as "artificial sun". The EAST, the world's first all-superconducting Tokamak designed and developed by China, has completed all the engineering adjustment, and is now preparing for the first round of physical experiment.

    Merapi eruption causes hundreds to fall ill

    Local residents suffered from severe health problems following the eruption of Merapi Volcano in Indonesia's Central Java province, May 21. So far there are some 3,400 Indonesians living nearby suffering from pneumonia, respiratory problems as well as diarrhea and such syndrome has left one death.

    Trapped workers rescued from tunnel

    Rescuers carry the sixth saved worker away from the collapsed Nanchangling Railway Tunnel in Heqing County, southwest China's Yunnan Province, May 21, 2006. The tunnel under construction collapsed on May 16, leaving six workers trapped. The workers have all been saved and receive treatment at the Heqing People's Hospital.

    Fujimori eyes political comeback
