Lippi to unveil Italian World Cup squad on Monday
font size

Italy coach Marcello Lippi on Monday afternoon will unveil his 23-man squad for next month's World Cup finals in Germany.

Lippi will make the announcement at the Parco dei Principi hotel in the Italian capital at 1530 GMT.

Italian football has been rocked after four Serie A clubs - Juventus, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio - were being investigated for suspected match-fixing last season.

But Lippi has said that whatever happens at the World Cup, Italy's performances should not be linked to what is happening in the Serie A.

"If we fail to achieve our World Cup objectives then we will assume our responsibilities without hiding behind excuses of the current problems in Italian football,"said Lippi.

Italy are grouped with Ghana, the United States and the Czech Republic in the tournament, which kicks off on June 9.
