font size

A total of 19 Chinese websites providing blog service including People.com, Bokee.com and Sina.com as well as representatives of bloggers signed a "self-discipline pact on civilized use of Internet" at a seminar on the construction of Internet civilization and ethics sponsored by the Internet Society of China and Bokee.com in Beijing.

The blog service providers undertook to implement the contents of the pact, to win trust of Internet surfers with tasteful service, to help Internet users improve the ability to tell the right from the wrong and promote Internet ethics.

The Internet Society of China pointed out that China should put up correct Internet ethics and promote self-restraint in the Internet industry; it needs to learn from advanced international experiences, and press ahead with the implementation of grading system for online contents; the social responsibility of enterprises should be clarified; and more governmental supports and funds should be invested in Internet management.

The population of bloggers in China reached 16 million in 2005.
