Cambodian king visits DPRK
font size

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni arrived in Pyongyang Monday, starting a state visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

King Sihamoni is paying the visit at the invitation of Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, who greeted Sihamoni at the airport, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

It is the king's first official visit to the DPRK since he was crowned in October 2004 after his father Norodom Sihanouk abdicated his throne.

King Sihamoni will also visit his parents, former king Sihanouk and queen Monineath, who have been in the DPRK since Feb. 28 and plan to return to Cambodia in May.
