Gunmen wound Iraqi judge in Baghdad

An Iraqi judge was seriously wounded on Sunday when unidentified gunmen attacked him in northeastern Baghdad, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

"Unidentified armed men opened fire at investigating magistrate Muhammed Amin in Hurriyah neighborhood as he was heading to his work in Azamiyah Court," the source said on condition of anonymity.

The judge was seriously injured and had been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, he added.

Gunmen frequently attack Iraqi government employees and security forces in an attempt to cripple the U.S.-backed political process in the violence-plagued country.
