Bulgarian woman rower banned for 2 years due to doping
Bulgarian lady rower Milka Manchorova-Tancheva is suspended from competing in the sport of rowing for two years after testing positive for doping usage, the International Rowing Federation (FISA) Anti-Doping Hearing Panel said in a decision on Wednesday.
The Bulgarian rower's ban is valid until June 8, 2007.
Manchorova-Tancheva was tested as part of an unannounced test of rowers in Plovdiv of Bulgaria on May 3, 2005, when it showed positive for a substance on list S2 of the World Anti-Doping Agency's list of prohibited substances and methods.
FISA placed her on an immediate provisional suspension which took effect on June 9, 2005.
After the case the Bulgarian rower remained silent and only submitted her explanations in a written form through the president of the Bulgarian Rowing Federation, instead of appearing in person at the hearing about her case, giving up any chance to reduce her suspension.
