Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju, who was hospitalized "for physical unfitness," is recovering, a spokesman said Thursday in Beijing.

Wu Jianmin, spokesman for the imminent Fourth Session of the Tenth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top advisory body, made the remark in response to a Japanese journalist's question. The session is slated to open in the Great Hall of the People on Friday.

Huang, 66, is in the nine-member Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the ruling Communist Party of China.
