Indonesia's export, import down in January
Indonesia's export in January decreased by 7.10 percent to 7.51 billion U.S. dollars compared to December last year, the National Statistic Bureau said in Jakarta Wednesday.
The decrease was attributed to the decrease of exports of non- oil and gas products by 8.53 percent to 5.70 billion U.S. dollars, and oil and gas products by 2.33 percent to 1.82 billion U.S. dollars, the head of the bureau Choirul Maksum said.
He said the decline of exports of the oil and gas products were caused by the decrease of exports of crude oil by 11.89 percent, and natural gas by 3.14 percent.
Indonesia's import in January decreased 4.79 percent to 4.27 billion U.S. dollars from December last year, Maksum said.
The decrease was driven by the decline in the imports of oil and gas by 17.05 percent to 1.09 billion U.S. dollars and non-oil and gas by 8.52 percent to 3.20 billion U.S. dollars, he said.
