Kevin Garnett, Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star forward, was fined $5,000 by the NBA because of throwing a ball into the stands, according to the league on Monday.
The ball hit a fan in Sunday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, but the fan was not seriously injured. He was ejected for the incident and later apologised to the fan.
Garnett said he threw the ball after becoming frustrated with the officiating in the game, which the Timberwolves won 105-99.
The NBA also fined the Timberwolves' Ricky Davis and the Detroit Pistons' Rasheed Wallace $5,000 each for separate incidents, the league said.
Davis was fined for kicking a ball into the stands at the end of Friday's game with the Denver Nuggets.
Wallace was penalised for elbowing Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas on the head in Sunday's game, opening a gash that required five stitches.
