Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei urged the United States on Tuesday not to cut off financial aid to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) despite Hamas' election victory.
Qurei made the remarks after meeting U.S. General Consul Jacob Wallas in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
Qurei also praised the European Union decision to release 120 million euros of urgent aid to Qurei's outgoing government of PNA as he received a British parliament delegation headed by Leen Right, a member of the House of Commons.
He described the EU decision as a wise decision, adding "we highly appreciate it as we face the financial crisis which would result in the collapse of PNA and dangerous consequences on security and stability."
Qurei urged the International community and the American administration to prevent Israel from imposing facts on the ground or implementing unilateral steps in the occupied West Bank.
He also called on the next Palestinian cabinet to be formed by Hamas to make commitment to a negotiated solution with Israel.
