font size

Four new cases of the bird flu virus were discovered in migratory birds in Thrace on Tuesday, bringing the total of such cases in Greece to 20.

The samples have been sent for further testing to the European Union Reference Laboratory in order to determine whether they were infected with the deadly strain of the virus, H5N1.

The Greek government has notified the relevant EU authorities regarding the new cases.

All the bird flu cases in Greece were found in northern part of Greece, which is believed to be the gathering center for migratory birds.
