Ten persons were arrested for assassinating five MSF (Medical Sons Frontiers) members two years ago in Afghan northwestern province of Badghis, the provincial governor said Tuesday.
"According to the list of 11 persons in charge of killing five MSF members provided by the government, we have arrested 10 of them this week, and all of them will be sent to Kabul for further interrogation and investigation," Enayatullah Enayat told Xinhua.
"Most of them were arrested in Qadis district, where the MSF members were killed, while one of them was arrested in the western Herat province," he added.
Five members including three international workers from the international medical aid agency MSF were killed in June 2004 in Qadis district of Nimroz.
After two months of the bloody attack, the organization announced the total closure of all its medical programs in Afghanistan.
"We hope MSF can come back to Afghanistan since we need their help. Now Badghis province is very safe with about 150 Spanish PRT (Provincial Reconstruction Team) soldiers stayed there for reconstruction and peace keeping work," the province governor Enayat added.
The international medical aid agency MSF, which has been engaged in humanitarian activities in Afghanistan since 1980, provided healthcare in 13 provinces with 80 international and 1, 400 local staff.
