Indonesia's industrial gas demand predicted to increase 10 pct

Gas demand for the industrial sector in Indonesia is estimated to increase by 10 percent to 19. 19 billion cubic meters in the next three years.

Industry Minister Fahmi Idris said here Tuesday the rising oil fuel prices will drive up natural gas consumption.

He said natural gas will make up of 30 percent of the country's energy consumption.

Gas consumption in 2006 is estimated at 1.7 billion cubic feet (51 million cubic meters) per day, up slightly from 1.6 billion cubic feet (48 million cubic meters) last year, he said in a hearing with legislators.
