font size

Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Friday announced a House dissolution following royal endorsement of King of Thailand.

The announcement was made shortly after Thaksin meet King Bhumibol Adulyadej Friday afternoon allegedly to present the reshuffled cabinet list for approval.

"I have decided to dissolve the parliament," Thaksin told reporters after meeting with the king.

Thaksin was expected to declare the reason for the dissolution at 8:00 p.m. (1300 GMT) Friday.

According to Thailand's constitution, a general election should be held within 60 days following the parliament's dissolution.
