The national capital Beijing hosted 3.629 million overseas tourists last year, a year-on-year rise of 15 percent, according to local tourism administrators.
The overseas tourists included 3.116 million foreigners, up 16.2 percent year-on-year; 314,000 tourists from Hong Hong, up 13.1 percent; 13,000 tourists from Macao, up 0.3 percent; and 186,000 tourists from Taiwan, up 1.4 percent year-on-year.
Tourists from Asia rose by 2.8 percent year-on-year and those from America surged 25.2 percent year-on-year. European tourists to Beijing grew by 28 percent year-on-year, those from Oceania shot up by 28.1 percent and those from Africa soared by 33.7 percent year-on-year.
The registered number of domestic tourists to Beijing surged by 16.2 percent year-on-year to reach 12.475 million last year, according to Beijing Municipal Tourism Administration.
