China's Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) government named the yearly list of medallists of honors on Tuesday and a 65-year-old public servant was awarded the top medal for 2005.

Tong Chi Kin, spokesman for the Executive Council, advisory body of the Macao chief, was awarded the second highest medal of Golden Lotus, according to a government announcement.

The top honor, the Grand Lotus, was not awarded for 2005, the announcement said.

A total of 32 individuals and eight entities were awarded medals for their outstanding contributions to various realms of the society, it said.

The MSAR government confers medals of honors every year, which are classified into one Grand Lotus, one Golden Lotus, three Silver Lotus as well as a non-fixed number of medals of achievements for professional elite, organizations or government departments.
