A professional interpretation program launched by Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) has been certified by the international interpretation authority, said SISU sources Wednesday.
The program, launched by the Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation (GIIT) of the university, has just been certified by International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC), said Dai Huiping, vice president with SISU.
GIIT, founded in 2003, is now one of the world's top 15 professional interpretation institutes, the only one in China, including Taiwan and Hong Kong.
"Our program is qualified for the standards set by AIIC", said Dai. "The experts from AIIC are very impressed by our advanced equipment and excellent faculty."
Besides GIIT, the other 14 institutes or organizations enlisted in the "top 15" by AIIC are in America, Australia and some European countries, including France, Finland, Switzerland and England.
AIIC appraises the training organizations providing professional interpretation courses across the world at an interval of three years. Its appraisal is considered the world's highest level in the field of simultaneous interpretation.
