OMRON sets up R&D center in Shanghai

OMRON Group announced recently to set up its first R&D center in the Zizhu Scientific Park of Shanghai --- OMRON Sensing and Control Research and Development (Shanghai) Corporation.

The new company will be devoted to the research and development of state-of-the-art technology in the sensing and control area, particularly to image sensing such as human face recognition and recognition of various kinds of objects and states. In addition it will launch various kinds of surveys.

The center will be officially launched in October, 2006 with 100 personnel and 30-odd researches at the beginning of its operation. It is expected to double its research personnel and number of projects by the end of March, 2008.
