Hamas militants Sunday night succeeded in helping release two journalists kidnapped by unknown militants in Gaza City, Palestinian sources said Monday.
The two journalists, one American and the other Palestinian from the West Bank, were kidnapped in Gaza City Sunday night by unknown Palestinian militants.
A Palestinian police vehicle chased a car, in which the two journalists and the militants were. The car stopped at Gaza City main street, and one of the militants pointed his gun at the journalists and threatened to kill them if the police car did not leave immediately.
A group of militants, members of al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' armed wing, were coincidentally passing by the road and managed to free the two journalists finally.
Kidnapping of foreigners in Gaza has mounted in the past few months to try to blackmail the Palestinian National Authority.
