Syria signs agriculture agreement with FAO
Syria on Sunday signed an agreement with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for the development of organic agriculture, the official SANA news agency reported.
The agreement valued at 1 million US dollars will draw an institutional and scientific program that can not only improve the profit of producers, manufacturers and businessmen but also contribute to a cleaner environment.
Syrian Minister of Agriculture Adel Saffar expressed gratitude to the Italian government, saying its grant and cooperation with FAO is very important for the development of the agricultural sector in Syria.
Representative of FAO Hiro Feioleo, who also inked the agreement, stressed the importance of developing the organic farming concept in Syria to meet the needs of local and world markets.
