Israeli soldiers stationed east of the central Gaza Strip town of Deir el-Ballah shot dead a Palestinian teen sitting inside a taxi, witnesses and medics said Monday.
Ragheb al-Masri was shot in the head when he was sitting next to the taxi driver who tried to cross a roadblock ignoring Israeli soldiers' orders, they said.
Medics at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis said al-Masri died of a gunshot in the head that destroyed his skull.
The incident occurred when Israeli soldiers stationed at the al- Matahen roadblock opened fire at Palestinian vehicles that tried to cross the roadblock after being held between al-Matahen and Abu Holi roadblock for five days.
There were dozens of Palestinian cars, taxis, trucks and vehicles loaded with passengers and goods between the two Israeli army roadblocks for five days, witnesses said.
The two roadblocks are called the Gush Katif crossroad and the Kisoffim junction respectively by Israeli army, which shut down the roadblocks on Thursday and split the Gaza Strip into three isolated parts after militants intensified rocket attacks on Israeli targets.
