font size

Three dead and one injured was the toll of an explosion and fire occurred Friday in a fireworks factory in north Portugal.

The police said it does not know the cause of the incident taking place near the factory in S. Pedro do Sul, in Viseu.

The fatalities included the owner and two customers, whose bodies were found charred. Another person, injured outside the factory by the explosion was hospitalized in serious conditions.

No house in the proximity was affected, although traffic was blocked on two roads nearby.

Four years ago, another similar explosion in the same factory killed one person.
