font size

Former Argentine soccer great Diego Armando Maradona Friday officially took his charge as soccer vice president of Boca Juniors.

"I want to thank for the opportunity I've been given to work," said Maradona very happily, during his presentation Friday at La Bombonera Stadium, the seat of Boca.

According to information given on Wednesday, the ex-player will be the "link between the executives and the players.

"I will not be a desk vice president," Maradona said Wednesday when informing on his post.

The 44-year-old Maradona has made a good recovery after undergoing drug rehabilitation last year and a gastric bypass operation in Colombia in March, which helped the former Argentina captain lose 33kg.
