The Iraqi security forces killed four insurgents and detained 97 others in military operations in northern Iraq, the Iraqi government said Sunday.

It said the security forces searched an area south of Qayyarah near Mosul, killing three insurgents and detaining 94 others on Wednesday.

The soldiers also killed an insurgent and injured two others while patrolling in central Mosul, some 400 km north of Baghdad, it said.

Three other suspects were detained separately in northern Iraq, it added.
