Beijing ready for the Fortune Forum

Beijing has completed preparations for the Fortune Global Forum Beijing 2005. A total of 837 guests will present the forum, the Information Office of the State Council and Beijing Municipal Government announced May 9th.

According to Zhao Qizheng, Director of the Information Office of the State Council, a total of 481 foreign guests and 254 foreign enterprises including 76 world top 500 enterprises; 211 Chinese guests from related departments of the State Council, the Beijing Municipal Government and enterprises will attend the forum. This is the third time that Beijing has played host to the fortune global forum.

Chinese President Hu Jintao will address the opening ceremony in the evening of May 16th. Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan, Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Cheng Siwei, Commerce Minister Bo Xilai, Governor of People's Bank Zhou Xiaochuan and Science Minister Xu Guanhua will deliver speech at conferences or symposiums of the forum. The scale of the forum is inseparable from China's strengthened national strength and international economic circle's confidence in China.

The schedule of the forum has been confirmed basically and "China and the new Asian Century" is made the theme. In the evening of May 15 the sports roundtable reception will be held; on May 16th the sports roundtable meeting and the culture roundtable meeting will open at the same time. The opening ceremony of the forum is scheduled in the evening. Formal meetings are to open on May 17 and May 18, when 11 meetings and 15 symposiums will be held.
