Kuwait initiates search engine for Arabic websites
font size

Kuwait has initiated a search engine to archive all Arabic websites on the Internet, the Kuwait News Agency reported Monday.

Suoud al-Zaid, assistant director general for Information Systems of Kuwait's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was quoted as saying that the initiative came as a result of cooperation between Kuwait's public and private sectors.

The official, who was attending a world information forum in Cairo, Egypt, hoped that a great part of the project would be finalized by the end of 2005.

The three-day forum is dedicated to discussing the future of communications in the region and mechanisms for financing and managing the Internet.
