Indonesia to increase Sukhoi planes to 16
font size

The Indonesian Air Force plans to buy a squadron of Russia-made Sukhoi warplanes in addition to four Sukhois already acquired last year, its chief said Saturday.

"We hope within the next two or three years we will have 16 ( Sukhoi) warplanes," Air Force Chief of Staff Marshall Djoko Sujanto was quoted by Detikcom online news service as saying.

He said the Air Force will continue the rejuvenation program in its weaponry system until 2009.

Indonesia has purchased four Sukhois and two military helicopters from Russia under a counter-trade scheme.
