Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday left by road to visit tsunami-affected villages in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari district.
"The prime minister will be back here in the afternoon and then leave for Nagapattinam by helicopter," a top government official said.
"The prime minister will return again by 7.30 p.m. for detailed talks with the Kerala government."
Manmohan Singh is accompanied by his cabinet colleagues Sharad Pawar, Dayanidhi Maran and Prthiviraj Chauhan.
The prime minister will spend Thursday night at Raj Bhavan here and will visit Kollam and Alappuzha in Kerala on Friday before returning to New Delhi.
