China will continue its efforts to implement the scientific viewpoint of development and to consolidate achievements resulted from the government's macro-economic control policy next year, according to a central economic conference closed Sunday.
The three-day annual conference, attended by all nine members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, summed up the economic situation this year and planned for economic work in 2005.
The year 2005 very crucial, as it is the last year for the country's 10th Five-Year Plan (2001-2005) in economic development and the performance in 2005 will be related directly to the development of the next five-year plan, according to the conference.
The conference calls on further efforts for handling the relationship between the market mechanism and macro-control, promoting reforms and opening up, and optimizing the economic structure, so as to realize an overall, coordinated and sustainable economic and social development.
President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao have both made significant speeches during the conference.
