Suicide car bombing hit US convoy in western Iraq
font size

A suicide car bomber attacked a US military convoy on the main road near the flashpoint town of Khaldiya on Monday, Dubai-based al-Arabiya satellite channel reported.

There had been several military vehicles damaged in the blast and witnesses in the town spoke of several US casualties, the channel said.

The US military had no immediate comment on the attack in Khaldiya, some 80 km west of Baghdad.

The western Anbar province, including Khaldiya, Fallujah, Ramadi, have long been a hotbed of insurgency against the US forces since last year's US-led war on Iraq.

Earlier in the day, a car bomb exploded near a foreign military convoy in Baghdad, killing at least two Iraqis and wounding several others.

The blast took place at about 8:00 am (0500 GMT) in the neighborhood of Karrada, damaging a military vehicle, the police said.
