An inspection team from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Monday began a four-day visit to Beijing to examine the city's progress in preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The 19-member team, headed by Hein Verbruggen, chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission for the 2008 Games, is scheduled to hold discussions with Beijing Olympic organizers on a variety of issues, including press operation, security, venue construction, transportation and marketing.

Verbruggen, along with several other IOC coordinators, will also pay an inspection tour of Qingdao, which will host sailing competition of the 2008 Games.
