font size

Brazil's petroleum giant Petrobras set up a representative office in Beijing Sunday, and visiting Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva attended the inauguration ceremony.

Lula said the establishment of Petrobras' representative office in Beijing, together with the upcoming signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Petrobras and China Petro-Chemical Corp., showed part of the concrete steps for developing the strategic partnership between Brazil and China.

Petrobras, as Brazil's biggest state-owned enterprise, plays an important role in Brazil-China economic and trade ties, he said, adding there is huge potential in energy cooperation between the two countries.

Lula arrived in Beijing Saturday evening for a six-day state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.
