Chinese and French gov'ts to launch Internet cooperation

Chinese Ministry of Information Industry and French Ministry of Research and New Technologies will beef up cooperation between CNGI (China Next Generation Internet) and FNGI (France Next Generation Internet).

As learned on April 12 from French IPv6 working group for the third Global Ipv6 Summit being held in Beijing from April 12 to 14, a memorandum of cooperation on promoting Sino-French collaboration on IPv6 will be signed by Xi Guohua, Chinese deputy Minister of Information Industry in France on April 16.

There have been lots of cooperation on IPv6 between enterprises from China and France. A project called 6TNET was launched as early as a year ago by French 6wind Company and Beijing Internet Institute (BII), a Chinese company.

Incorporated 7 years ago, 6wind is one of the first companies in the world in IPv6 technology and is able to offer a complete package of IPv6 solutions. Testing of its IPv6 web which is co-built with French Telecom SA is underway and the commercialization of the network is expected soon.
